The Capital One Mascot Challenge 2012

HERE ARE THE 2012 CHALLENGERS:

BUCKY
The origin of Bucky Badger can be traced back to the 1930’s where a human-like badger made his debut in University of Wisconsin publications. After receiving his proper name, Buckingham U. Badger (Bucky!), in 1949, Bucky’s
combination of ferocity and rambunctiousness has well represented the Wisconsin spirit and led Wisconsin cheers for decades. On Wisconsin!

THE SCARLET KNIGHT
The Scarlet Knight is as well-known as the best football or basketball players,
presenting himself as a challenging figure with a big head and an oversized sword. While his appearance represents the male gender, "he" has been the Scarlet Knight mascot for both men’s and women’s sports since 1955. This is the Scarlet Knight's first year on the Capital One All-America Mascot team.

COCKY
The perfect blend of mischief and pride, Cocky is beloved by Gamecock fans around the country. Whether fraternizing with students or supporting literacy nation wide, Cocky makes an impact. Not to be outdone on the field, Cocky holds national championships from both UCA and NCA cheerleading programs, and is also the 2003 winner of the Capital One Mascot Challenge.

COSMO
Cosmo is a spontaneous, outgoing, cool cat that has become the vibrant symbol of BYU. His name was plucked from the sky to represent something far out, beyond our reach, something special. Cosmo is well known for his crazy antics, which include acrobatics, crazy stunts, or anything else his cougar spirit bids him. Besides being a crowd pleaser, Cosmo is a friend to everyone bringing smiles to those he meets and constantly giving service to the community.

MIKE THE TIGER
Mike the Tiger is LSU's number one fan. Mike's confident, playful character highlights why he is ranked in the top spot among the nation’s mascots. Mike can be seen at nearly every LSU sporting event and is always ready to entertain with his always friendly personality.

MS WUF
The matron of the Wolfpack Nation, Ms. Wuf was introduced in 1975 to support the school’s bourgeoning women’s athletic program. Six years later, she married the love of her life, Mr. Wuf, in a ceremony presided over by Wake Forest University's Demon Deacon. Ms. Wuf loves NC State athletics and can be found at every NC State football and basketball game with her loving husband.

RAIDER RED
Raider Red is the cowboy boot wearing, gun-slinging mascot of Texas Tech
University. His swagger and finger waving riles up the Red Raiders and lets the opposing team know they’re in for a real shootout. So much so, that this
mascots true identity is hidden from the public and Tech community at large.

CAM THE RAM
CAM the Ram is the official mascot of Colorado State University. His name
reflects CSU history in that the letters of his name stand for Colorado Agricultural and Mechanical College, the university's former name. CAM is the model of what a real ram looks like and wears No. 70 on his jerseys, to signify the year that the university was established, 1870. This is his first year on the Capital One All-America Mascot Team.

SEBASTIAN THE IBIS
Sebastian the Ibis is a bird that warns of (actual) hurricanes, being the last to leave and the first to return. You can often see him showing off his swagger as he dances his way around the field and all over South Florida. His most sighted moves would be throwing up the "U," twisting his beak, or doing a C-A-N-E-S spell out after every touchdown. He always shows energy, charisma, and attitude through the blazing Miami heat, all the while lifting the spirit of UM fans.

SPARTY
Introduced in 1989, Sparty immediately became the embodiment of Spartan spirit and the popular face of Michigan State University & Spartan Nation. His Strength, confidence, and charm are some of the key attributes that continue to connect alumni, current students, and future Spartans around the world. Sparty is a man of few words, however he is a walking example of the second amendment: The Right to Bare Arms. Go Green!

TESTUDO
Testudo, the official mascot of the University of Maryland, is not your ordinary Diamondback terrapin. For over sixty years, he has been the symbol for the Maryland campus, overseeing good times and bad, yet never wavering in his support of Maryland athletics. Testudo got his start back in 1932, when then football coach Dr. H. Curley Byrd recommended that the terrapin be made the school mascot. It is also the Maryland State Reptile. Testudo has been a member of the Capital One All-America Mascot team six times previously (2004, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011)

THE DUCK
Duck is a 6 foot water fowl who enjoys a good cup of coffee and bread crumbs! He currently resides in a nest down by the river and has numerous degrees (been a student for a while) which include: sports marketing, journalism, music, dance, pushups, architecture, marine biology, and beef jerky. He’s polite, soft spoken, and a good hangout buddy if ya wanna play cribbage or "I dare you to eat that."

TRUMAN THE TIGER
"Truman the Tiger!", named for the Missouri-bred President of the United States- Harry S. Truman, performs at athletic events and makes numerous civic appearances. He is best known to Mizzou fans for his "tail spin," doing push ups after Tiger scores and for riding into home football games in a 1950’s vintage fire truck, "Truman Taxi!"

WILMA WILDCAT
Wilma Wildcat: A blind date with Wilbur Wildcat in 1986 led to Wilma becoming the first lady of Wildcat mascots. Wilma’s energy, sass and class lead her unwavering support for Arizona Athletics and her husband, Wilbur. This feminine feline has got bite.

WOLFIE JR.
WOLFIE..... Battle ready. Battle born. Leading the University of Nevada wolfpack into a new conference this year.... The Mountain West! Navy and silver, he wears the colors proud and holds the 2011 title as Capital One National Mascot of the Year! WOLFIE is a champion and is ready to fight for another year of competition in the Capital One Mascot Challenge! One community. One pack. One WOLFIE!!!!

YOUDEE
YoUDee is a Blue Hen whose valor and courage has roots all the way back to the Revolutionary War. It is with this ferocity, and a little swagger, that YoUDee leads the University of Delaware into battle week after week.
